PYP
Our children have had opportunities to reflect on our PYP Unit of Inquiry: Global Contributors. They have been able to show their understanding of the central idea at different levels.  They’ve been working on identifying problems in the world and finding solutions to these through actions plans created by them. Our students have been inspired by the different people who have come to our class to share their amazing contributions to the world. Our students have been learning about the different ways in which we can contribute. They have been inspired and empowered.
Children will continue working on elaborating and developing their actions plans. We will continue referring to this line of inquiry as appropriate during the school year in order to foster an enduring understanding.  We will appreciate if you continue to reinforce this at home, as well.
When we come back from our break, we will get started on our new PYP unit of inquiry: “Migration and Mapping”. Students will have plenty of opportunities to inquire into migrating, adapting, contributing, and change.

We had a rather smooth start with a fantastic group of children who have done an excellent job settling into the routine of school.  We also have an amazing group of parents with whom we’ll be working together over the course of the year. Thank you to all who came to our Back to School Night; it was a most welcome opportunity to get to know each other a little bit. During this time children have been learning about our PYP unit of inquiry:  “Weather”, under the PYP Transdisciplinary Theme: “How The World Works”.  The central idea in this unit of inquiry is: Weather affects human action and human action affects weather.
Students have been exposed to plenty of opportunities to inquire into: types, changes and patterns in weather; tools and technology which help predict and record weather; severe or extreme weather conditions; climate change and personal responsibility - human action affecting weather and vs.
Through the different learning engagements proposed in class our children will have a fairly clear understanding of how weather affects human action and how human action affects weather.  We will be working on different kinds of activities and projects in order for our children to become more aware of our central idea in this unit.
